Jessica Steen
Jessica Steen
is a Canadian actress in film and television. She is well-known for her
appearances in Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future, Homefront, Earth
2, Armageddon, Left Behind World at War, NCIS, Flashpoint as well as the CBC
series Heartland. Jessica Steen was born in Toronto, Ontario, the daughter of
Joanna Noyes, an actress and Jan Steen, a director and actor. Steen is Scottish
and Dutch-American. Steen as well as her career in entertainment, is an
environmentalist as well as an advocate for animal rights. She supports David
Suzuki, the World Society for the Protection of Animals and the Western
Canadian Wilderness Committee, among others. She is a qualified diver, and has
also mastered a number of circus arts like fire-twirling and stilt-walking.
Steen was only eight years old when she was first cast in The Sun runners, a
Canadian children's TV show. She appeared alongside her mother. In the 1986 TV
film Young Again, she portrayed Tracy Gordon, the daughter of a character
portrayed by Lindsay Wagner. The actress was the first woman to be a regular on
the syndicated television show Captain Power as well as the Soldiers of the
Future. The show ran for one year. In 1988, she was awarded the Gemini Award
for her performance in Captain Power's episode "Judgment". She was
Tracy Steel's character on the show THE WISEGUY in 1987. In 1989, Steen broke
onto the big screen in the movie musical Sing.
